Transferable skills are abilities that are relevant and helpful across different areas of life. They are core skills that can be applied to a wide range of jobs and industries. Transferable skills are those that you develop as you progress through employment, education or training.
Here are tips on how to develop some transferable skills:
1. Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills
When it comes to solving problems, making decisions, or arriving at a judgment; the critical thinker strives to do so based on solid evidence, while trying to remain objective and fair-minded. It takes some effort to engage in open-minded critical thinking instead of just assuming and accepting.
To develop critical thinking skills, you should; have an analytical mindset; ask basic questions; be aware of your mental process; adjust your perspective; develop foresight; listen to other contributions, and be patient. Uncertainty causes you to take more time to analyze stuff. However, you should understand that patience is necessary to figure out the big picture.
2. Leadership Skills
Leadership skill isn’t for managers and supervisors alone. As a transferable skill, leadership points to employee ability to collaborate effectively on a project and get a team to follow through and accomplish shared goals.

To communicate effectively; understand how your behavior impacts others and the way others respond to you; use verbal as well as nonverbal techniques to help get your message across to your audience; learn ways to give and receive constructive feedback; develop effective listening skills, and improve your vocabulary;
5. Creativity
Finding ways of developing your creativity through everyday experiences is a great and time-efficient way of exercising the right side of your brain. To be creative, you should; belief in your capability; identify your ideas, associate with creative people; play games, puzzles, or physical sports; and engage in creative activities.
