Nigeria Jubilee Fellowship Programme launched to help 20,000 graduates with post-COVID-19 job search
The Nigerian Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) is a youth empowerment partnership initiative between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) aimed at empowering Nigerian graduates with opportunities.
Rising unemployment and also the devastating impact of COVID-19 pandemic are all affecting the ability of young Nigerians to find work. In response, the Federal Government of Nigeria through the office of the Vice President and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) officially opens portal for the youth empowerment programme to train 20,000 young people for free for 12 months with N80,000 as monthly stipends and also place them in private and public sector multiple industries and sectors across the country.
The programme seeks to connect talented graduates with local job opportunities that apply their expertise, while equipping them with world-class practical knowledge and relevant skills. It does not matter if you have no job experience. The programme will place young Nigerians in private as well as public sector organizations across the country.
About 25 million graduates remain unemployed across the country. NJFP aims to bridge this gap between young, talented Nigerians, and also local opportunities that will help them to succeed as they begin their career. This Fellowship is designed to help fresh NYSC graduate with zero work experience, who often find it difficult to break into the professional world.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be an eligible fellow, you must be a Nigerian citizen.
- Be a fresh graduate (Bachelor’s Degree) from any discipline and graduated not earlier than 2017.
- Graduate with at least a Second Class Lower (2.2) and above.
- Be at least 30 years old. Not currently engaged in any employment
- Have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) OR have a certificate of exemption from the NYSC.
- Demonstrate interest and also commitment in chosen career field
- Demonstrate interest/commitment to contributing to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
- Have excellent time management and a professional attitude.
- Have good verbal and written communication skills
