How to Identify your Purpose
Growing up, we all desired to be different things for various reasons, some of which were influenced by our surroundings or the expectations of our parents or guardians. Some people succeeded in realizing their visions, whether it was theirs or someone else’s. Even after these visions have been realized, some people realize that they may have pursued the wrong goal. As a result, we come to the realization that every human existence has a definite purpose; you must comprehend this in order to grasp your purpose.
Component of the physical being
We are embodied spirits and inspirited bodies, or, if you will, embodied minds and minded bodies.
Your thought pattern, emotions, cravings and appetite, and labour are the four basic components of a human person. In close collaboration with your senses, you figure out what you want to do with your life, what you care about and are enthusiastic about. But first and foremost, you must gain a greater understanding of yourself. There are a variety of approaches to better understanding yourself; one that I frequently use is creative introspection.
This means that you frequently examine yourself; by creatively analysing your visions, corresponding actions, and considering your motivation, you will effectively scrutinize your identified purpose. You can, however, use techniques that work for you because we are all unique, and what works for us may differ. What is critical is that you are able to objectively evaluate yourself.
Understand the way of wisdom
If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.
Ecclesiastes 10:10
To truly identify your purpose and drive it to completion, you must open yourself to the wisdom of others; for this in itself is wisdom. Because wisdom is profitable to direct, it is critical that you seek the advice of those who have gone before you; those who have travelled the path you intend to take. It is advisable to seek mentorship in the same way that you would seek directions when driving on a new road.
Understand the mystery of faith
Perhaps your purpose in life is simply to be alive. Just by being who you are and connecting with the people, places, and things you encounter helps bind the fabric of our humanity. Your absence might be the fray that allows the fabric to tear apart.
– J J Zavada
Your first purpose, in the words of J J Zavada, is simply to be alive. My interpretation of Zavada’s words is that being alive refers to having faith in the substance of tomorrow despite the lack of evidence today.
It is impossible to live a purposeful life without faith. Fear takes away a lot of things from us. You won’t see the point in pursuing a future if you’re constantly afraid. But when you have faith, you talk, walk, and work with the understanding that the future is just a puzzle with pieces falling into place every day as you journey towards the fulfilment of your purpose; understanding that purpose is not a destination but a way of life that we live every day.
Faith allows you to connect with people, places, and things, ensuring that your encounter contributes to the fabric of humanity. And it is in connecting with your surroundings that you can discover your life’s purpose.
