Welcome to 2021: Have You a Prosperous New Year

The year 2020 has come to an end. We wish it also ends with its disasters; hoping it was just a bad dream.

The quote from Hal Borland clarifies the misconception from which resolutions are born. The year has ended; but the experience gathered should not be thrown away; rather it should help us to progress seemingly unto the new year.

The year is new but it requires experience and wisdom of the old to excel. It’s nothing like putting new wine in old wine skin.

Experiences and wisdom from the old year should be your ‘balance brought forward’.

“No one puts new wine into old wine skins: otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost, and so are the skins: but one puts new wine into fresh wine skins“.

-Mark 2:22

Do away with the mindset that dwindled your progress; if not you will be putting ‘new wine into old wine skin’. “You can’t put new ideas into old mind-sets. Likewise, you can’t get new results with old behaviors.”

New Year symbolizes new hopes and new beginnings. Many people dream of a new year, and are very grateful when they make it to the new year. This is because the new year symbolizes change. However, this new year is indeed special because many will want to leave the horrors of 2020 behind and wish for a better year.

The year 2020 was a challenging one for so many reasons; the year was troubled with the Coronavirus pandemic; the country was plunged into a recession; many people lost loved ones, jobs. Despite these challenges, there are still many reasons to be thankful.

Though many businesses were shut and some folded up as a result of the pandemic; entrepreneurs and innovators proved that when faced with challenges, ingenuity can yield innovative results.

I beseech us all to make the best of the new year. We must understand that our actions and decisions are very crucial determinants as to whether we end up successful or not. I am taking one of my mentors’ favorite quotes “Pray as if it all depends on God and work as if it all depends on you”, as my direction this new year.

I won’t live as though life happens by accident; the choices we make shape our experience of life. Therefore, as we pray for a fruitful, happy and prosperous new year, I entreat us all to seek the directions of Almighty and work closely with mentors.

Remember that “Today we are what we are because of yesterday’s choices. And where we shall be tomorrow will be decided today.”
