The U.S. Consulate General Lagos, Public Affairs Section (PAS) has announced a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for U.S. Government-sponsored Nigerian program alumni interested in applying for funding to propose projects to address issues under one of the seven priority theme areas listed below.
Priority Program Areas:
- Promote STEM education, with a focus on girls, in public secondary schools through capacity building and science fairs in District 1 in Lagos Ministry of Education School District for 50 teachers and 500 students.
- Advance gender equality through increased women’s political inclusion.
- Encourage economic growth and job creation utilizing the fashion industry and/or recycling.
- Empower women and girls through programs that combat Gender Based Violence (GBV) through the visual arts.
- Bolster bee keeping/honey or cocoa production through programs that build farmer capacity and advance planning, innovation, technology, finance, and/or partnerships.
- Promote awareness, advocacy, or government accountability on countering wildlife trafficking, including on the threat posed by ivory and pangolin scale trafficking to security and human health.
- Establish U.S. Government exchange alumni associations (USGEAA) in the following states: Oyo, Enugu, Ekiti and Edo. Successful applicants will propose working with alumni from the four states to create an alumni association, including drafting a mission statement and framework, electing a board, making an annual action plan, and engaging members. Proposal should also include training for new alumni associations on leadership, community engagement, proposal writing, and grants management.
Alumni of Fulbright, Humphrey, IVLP, UGRAD, SUSI, YALI, MWF, RLC, PAYLP, CYFI, AWE, TechWomen, GSMP, GES, IWP, and AFS programs are invited to propose projects.
