Terraskills Graduates 20 Employable Graduates at the Grand Launch of GES Program
On Tuesday, 13th December 2022, Terraskills held the Grand Launch of Graduate Employability Skills® (GES®) Program, an initiative poised to enhance the employability of 10,000 Nigerian Graduate.
The event marked the graduation ceremony of the 20 Pioneer batch (out of over 375 applications received) of the GES® initiative who had undergone intensive 3-months training comprising of a 1-month readiness assessment, 1-month inhouse training, and a 1-month internship program.
Welcome Address by the General Manager, Terraskills
The General Manager of Terraskills, Mr. Donald Ejieke Ogbuwa gave a warm welcome address acknowledging the presence of invited guests.
He reiterated the goal of the GES® initiative; to bridge the skills gap and equip graduate with requisite skills to enhance their employability, and reduce the problem associated with unemployment in Nigeria.
In his address, he noted that through her years of operations, Terraskills has successfully trained over 4,000 Nigerians in both public and private sectors of the Nigerian economy.
Formal Launching of the GES Foundation.
The Chairman of the occasion Mr. Shekarau Omar, Executive Director, Small and Medium Enterprises commended the Terraskills GES® initiative and formally launched the GES® Foundation.
He pledged his support and willingness to engage the Graduates of the GES® training to help secure their future.
Director General of ITF commended the Terraskills GES initiative
Professor Joseph Ari, Director General of ITF, the keynote speaker, represented by Mr. Zachariah John Piwunna applauded the Terraskills GES® initiative.
He gave a remarkable keynote address on the topic; “The Nexus between Skills Employment and National Productivity”.
In his speech, he noted that Skills Employment is critical to National Productivity, and for Nigeria to fully exploit the benefits derived therefrom, deliberate efforts by Government at all levels, the Organized Private Sector, Non-Governmental Organizations and other relevant stakeholders must be committed towards development of relevant and employable skills development of the Nigerian Populace.
The Program Manager of Terraskills, presented a unique recruitment solution by Terraskills
In furtherance to the Keynote address by the DG ITF, the Program Manager of Terraskills, Mr. Ada Ada Innocent, presented a unique solution by Terraskills tagged “JobPrimers Recruitment Solutions” which is poised to enhance the recruitment processes for Corporate Organizations; noting that the system will allow employers post job applications, receive and assess numerous application through rigorous screening process that ensures only qualified and best candidates are recommended without hassle.
Panellist Discussion on Key Topic Bordering on Employee Engagement
To help promote organizational growth and profitability, the audience were enlightened on a topic; Promoting Employee Engagement to achieve Organizational Growth and Profitability through a panellist discussion by industry experts inclusive of:
- Mrs. Delphina Eze, Assistant Director, NYSC,
- Mrs. Adenike Adebayo Ajala, Director, NECA, Abuja,
- Mr. Nsikak Amos Okon, Team Lead N-Power, Nigeria, and
- Moderated by Mr. Goodhope Chima Nwaohu, CEO of Goodway Global Consulting.
Positive Testimonials on GES®
Following the Launching of the 20 new employable GES® Maiden Trainees by the General Manager of Terraskills, positive testimonials about the GES® initiative were shared.
The GES® Maiden Trainees gave testimonials about the GES® training, stating how long they had been unemployed, how the GES® training is impacting them and how it will be beneficial to the other Nigerian Youths.
The testimonials from the GES® trainees were supported by representatives of the internship organizations present at the event, who stated how impactful the trainees were to their organizations during their internship and noted that the initiative will go a long way to enhance the employability of Nigerian Graduates.

To allow other Nigerians benefit from the GES® initiative and contribute to the Nations growth and Development, the Chairman of the Occasion, Mr. Shekarau Omar among other distinguished guests present pledged their support to sponsor more graduates in the coming batch of the GES® training 2023.

In the course of the event, participants were entertained with:
- drama themed “The Life of a Job Seeker; a performance that described some challenges faced by unemployed graduates and a unique solution to enhance their employability.
- an exciting and emotional Spoken Word Art by a Communications Officer in Terraskills, Miss Emmanuella Egba on “Unemployment; who to blame and what to focus on!
- Cultural dance performance, and
- Appetizing meals
At the end of the auspicious event, the Graduand of the Terraskills GES® training were presented Certificates of accomplishment by the Executive Director, SME, BOI and representative of DG ITF.
The Grand Launch of GES® program was indeed a huge success and presents an auspicious opportunity to enhance the employability of Nigerian Graduates, curb the problem associated with unemployment in Nigeria and improve the Nation’s economy at large.
