Skill Acquisition For Corp Members
For Corps members participating in the mandatory one year service of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC).
Skills acquisition training has been designed to arouse their interest to enlist for further training after the orientation period. The training is for those who are desirous of paid employment, a CV bank and job portal has been designed.
The development was in response to the needs of the corps members. Who despite the efforts to make them self-employed through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme still want a paid employment.
The State Coordinator Speech to the Youth Members
The disclosure was made by the Gombe State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Ada Imoni. During the 2021 Batch B Stream II SAED Closing Ceremony/ Exhibition held at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, Amada in Akko LGA.
She maintained that the portal is a platform for corps members. Corps members about to exit the scheme to upload their handwritten and video . Also, Curriculum Vitae for easy access by prospective employers.
While encouraging Corps members to continue with their chosen skills at their various places of primary assignments. Ada Imoni said that the hands-on training they got on camp was not conclusive. But rather meant to arouse their interest to enlist for further intensive training in any skill of their choice after the Orientation Camp.
About 900 Corps members participated in the Skills Acquisition hands-on training and prepared to embark on the service year as entrepreneurs.
At the end of the Inter-platoon competition. The result was declared as Gele and make -up was won by platoon 6. Barbing was won by Platoon 3 and Fashion design by platoon 7. The Overall best was won by platoon 6.
