How Successful People Think
It’s strange how everything starts with a thought. I was recently discussing the influence of man’s thinking with some friends, and I said that the difference between thought and action is consistency in thought, which later drives our will to act. Thousands of thoughts pass through our minds every day, some of which stick with us longer than others; we discover that our lives are truly determined by the thoughts we repeatedly harbour.
Based on my observations and interactions with others, I have concluded that love, hate, envy, discord, and rage all begin with a thought. This is why we inherently and unconsciously return good for good and often fail to do good to those who do us wrong.
If our thoughts have such powerful steering forces, there must be a distinction between successful and unsuccessful people’s thoughts; I agree with Earl Nightingale when he said;
Successful people come from all fields and endeavours; these endeavours may vary, the difficulties met may differ, and the experience gained may be as far apart as the north and south, but they all share one thing in common: where some see barriers, they see challenges to resolve.
They realize that success begins in the mind. Successful people have a particular mindset; they recognize that to succeed, they must celebrate small victories, so they see achievement at every step of the way.
Mentally Intelligent
Successful people have good mental acuity. They recognize early on that preparation is more than just putting pen to paper; having a solid mental image of the journey is critical for smooth sailing. Consider making a mental map of your journey; the path becomes clearer with each bend (challenge). Successful people cultivate an intense creative attitude; they put their minds to work, ensuring that their minds are focused and only open to helpful thoughts.
The more intensely we feel about an idea or a goal, the more assuredly the idea, buried deep in our subconscious, will direct us along the path to its fulfilment.
Earl Nightingale
The big picture
Successful people are always focused on the prize. As a result, regardless of how many times they fall, they never lose concentration or confidence in their dreams. To them, the dream is certain, attainable, and close at hand; their obstacle, however, is the path to the prize. Successful people recognize that the path to the prize will vary, but the prize is certain; therefore, when they fail, they re-evaluate their path rather than shifting their focus.
Celebrate little wins
Successful people rejoice in the small victories and trophies they amass along the way to their goals. Knowing that these victories are not their final goal, they are constantly awakened to their journey; they constantly assess their degree of complacency because they never want to feel secure in a specific position.
