Why Men Find It Difficult To Apologize
Your man made a mistake, and you are hoping for an apology so the two of you can kiss, make up, and move on. Well!!! Just know that you will wait long because it’s not going to come that easy.
Studies confirm what women have long suspected: men take pride in uttering the “S” word.
What’s the big deal about saying “I’m sorry”? Apologies have the incredible power to legalize feelings, heal rifts, reduce stress in a relationship, eliminate grudges, and generate forgiveness.
So, with all of these advantages, why are men so hesitant to say “I’m sorry” and learn how to apologize properly?
While some believe it is a gender issue, here are some of the reasons I believe it is:
They don’t view apologies the same way women do
Ever seen yourself saying, “I’m so sorry” to someone who is going through a difficult situation that has nothing to do with you? Women have a tendency to apologize for everything, they do this naturally as a way to connect with others and to maintain healthy relationships.
But then you wonder why the man you love have difficulty doing the same. The answer is simple: men think its dumb to apologize for something that is not their fault.
Apologizing makes them feel weak.
One of the reasons men are not apologetic is that admitting wrongdoing takes them out of their comfort zone. Apologies are often viewed as humiliating and a loss of face by men. When a man admits he has done something wrong, he often feels diminished in the eyes of those who hear the apology.
They believe actions speak louder than words
Your man offends you and he goes about buying you flowers, doing the dishes and texting you at work just to check up on you. And you will be wondering why all these cares? These are signs your man is offering a silent apology. He is trying to make it up to you but having pride expressing his feelings verbally.
