The place of Attitude in Self-Growth
They say attitude is everything
It is widely known. I believe that knowledge can get us some of the ways, but attitude can get us all the way; regardless of how brilliant one is, attitude determines how far one can go. I recently shared with some colleagues that favour in the workplace is all about attitude. Our attitude reflects who we are in general in life. Your attitude is the identifier of your mental state and defines who you are as a person. You must constantly strive to improve your attitude and make it one that promotes growth.
Attitude is the basis for everything in our lives.
Our attitude determines how we react to life; ability to grow; ability to overcome challenges and behave entirely is dependent on the attitude we bear. It is like the perfume we wear. Our attitude like I said earlier reflects our beliefs which over time, has been programmed within us.
The importance of having an attitudinal change cannot be overemphasized
I’ve discovered that consistency is crucial and a sine qua non (an absolute necessity) to growth. Consistency in our actions; in our attention; more importantly, our attitude, specifically, because our attitude determines our reality, brings about the change we’ve always desired.
For instance, every driver hates to be in traffic; but most gridlocks are caused by drivers who are not patient in following the right route hence causing gridlock. I have always thought that attitude is more subconscious than conscious; this is why most people can say one thing and do the other. Therefore, it is crucial that as a student of life, you match your word with your attitudes.
Many do not know how they behave, self-reflection becomes the mirror of growth
Deciding on an attitudinal shift is something we all must do as we periodically examine ourselves, using our consciences and the behaviour of those around us as mirrors. Maintaining a positive attitudinal change in each moment is one of the most effective ways to reprogram our subconscious and as a result, change our lives.
Because our attitudes are formed and forged by our beliefs and perception of the world around us; changing our attitudes begins with changing how we perceive and believe rather than just struggling with changing our attitudes. When this is done, our subconscious minds will be constantly bombarded with new perceptual and experiential data, forming new beliefs and over time with consistency our attitudes change for the better.
We can either consciously adjust our beliefs to change our attitudes, or we can remain unconscious and let our subconscious beliefs decide our attitude.
